Chapel
Concordia Learning Center prides itself in being an excellent educational opportunity for your little one, and what better way to help them begin to learn than to teach them about Jesus? The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6 KJV) We take each age group and break the Bible down in a way that each child can understand. Most lessons are taught by our director, Dana Batts on Wednesday, with the occasional guest speaker. Each chapel service consists of a short lesson with Sunday School songs.
Stretch and Grow
Stretch and Grow is a gymnastics program that comes to our center every Friday. It is 30 minutes of music and movement where the children get to run, jump, pretend to be fish swimming under the sea one day or maybe lions of the Savannah the next. The children also learn the names of all their muscles. Do you know where your gastrocnemius is? If you ask any of the children of Concordia they will tell you! It is a fun way for the children to learn the importance of exercising and eating healthy everyday! They love to Stretch and Grow!
Dallas Zoo
Do your children love to go to the zoo? So do we! Only here at Concordia Learning Center we bring the zoo to us! Because we are partnered with Educational First Steps they make it possible for us to bring some wonderful programs like the Dallas Zoo, the Dallas Arboretum and the Science Museum straight to our Center! By doing this we are able to keep the children in a safe environment without the stress of tedious field trips. We just bring the field trips to us! It is a personal visit that the children always look forward to.
Dallas Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum also participates in our educational programs. The picture on the left is from one of their visits when they discussed different types of local wildlife. All the animals brought that day were not live, but were taxidermy. As you can see they look very much alive! The children were able to pet a "real" raccoon, armadillo, skunk, squirrel, and many other animals native to this region. It is something that our children look forward to every visit!
Music
" Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." (Psalms 98:4 KJV) At Concordia, we believe that music is an essential part of learning. Every other Monday children get to sing and play with various instruments in music class. They are learning about music appreciation from Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart with a little bit of modern Christian music thrown into the mix. We feel that this helps give children a well-rounded start to their education.
